I visited Franz Josef (Waiau in the Māori language) on the west coast of the South Island of New Zealand in late 2018. I got to walk on and photograph the Franz Josef Glacier (Māori – Kā Roimata o Hine Hukatere) and came home with some spectacular images.
Glacier Valley
The Franz Joseph glacier descends from the slopes of Mount Cook into a the lush sub-tropical rain forest below.
