In August of 2018 I travelled to Kangaroo Island and the opportunity to shoot many different locations over five days. It was my first time on the island – located off the coast of South Australia, south of Adelaide at the mouth of St Vincent Gulf.

It is breathtakingly beautiful, a subtle landscape of vivid greens and low, rolling hills – hemmed by rock and often wild seas that have seen the end of many a ship.

The wildlife abounds, both on land and in the ocean.

Pelican evening

Twilight on the shore of the Bay of Shoals and a large flock of pelicans graced me with their presence. These birds are really large and you just don’t appreciate how big until you are up close to them.

Red Banks Sunset

If you go to Kangaroo Island then you must visit Red Banks at sunset. It’s a little out of the way, but it is absolutely worth the trip!

Emu

I never knew that emus had such amazing eyes…

Cape Wiloughby

While many of Kangaroo Island’s roads are gravel, many are truly beautiful with long avenues of arching eucalyptus.
